Teacher’s Overview

Level: Basic / A1

Grammar focus: Simple self-introductions (name, greetings, basic questions like “How are you?”)

Vocabulary: Names, greetings, personal info (e.g., hello, goodbye, nice to meet you) 

Lesson aim:

Students will confidently introduce themselves and others using basic greetings and questions, with lots of speaking practice to build confidence on day 1 or as an icebreaker.

Structure (6 modular activities – ~60–75 minutes total):

  • Introduction Easy (10+ min): Guided teacher-student, pair, or individual activities to practice basic introductions. 
  • Introduction Harder (10+ min): Slightly more challenging intro activities (still simple) for progression. 
  • Interview (10+ min): Simple discussion questions for pair/individual practice – maximizes student-talk-time. 
  • Find Someone Who… (10–15 min): Mingle/walking activity where students ask classmates questions to find matches. 
  • Homework (15+ min): Reinforcement exercises to practice at home. 
  • Review (10 min): Assessment worksheet with varied activities; Teacher’s Key included where needed.

Clean, speaking-heavy intro lesson for absolute beginners. No overload, lots of interaction and fun mingle element.
