Teacher’s Note

Numbers 1-100 – Basics & Counting

This is the first step in teaching numbers — perfect for pre-A1/A1 absolute beginners who need recognition, counting, and basic use.

Use before or alongside your existing “Numbers Position” lesson (ordinals).

2 PDFs – Quick Overview

  • PDF 1 (multiple pages): Warm-up chant/gestures + Numbers 1-10 practice + Finger Count game + Pair Practice.
  • PDF 2 (multiple pages): Numbers 11-20 + Counting Game + Pair Counting + Numbers 21-100 model + Real-Life Practice + Flashcards & Homework.

Tips

  • Speak very slowly. Repeat everything 5–10 times.
  • Use big gestures, smiles, thumbs up.
  • Praise every try (“Good job!”, “Excellent!”, clap/cheer).
  • If students are shy, let them point or whisper first.
  • Keep energy high — clap, cheer, smile a lot!

Print PDF flashcards (big numbers 1–100 with pictures) and laminate if possible. Use them for pointing, saying, and counting.

Have fun — this builds confidence fast!
