Teacher’s Overview
Back to School – Spot the Differences (A1–B2)
A fresh approach to classic Spot the Difference activities.
Instead of simply finding ten differences, students use the same picture set to build vocabulary, improve speaking, practise grammar, develop writing skills, and strengthen critical thinking across four language levels.
Each lesson pack has been carefully designed to match the needs of different learners, making this resource suitable for mixed-level schools, language centres, tutors, and private lessons.

💡 Teaching Tip
Encourage students to describe what they see before looking for the differences. This naturally develops observation skills, vocabulary, and spoken fluency while making the activity much more communicative.
🟢 A1 – Beginners
These activities help beginner learners build confidence through picture vocabulary, simple speaking, and observation tasks. Students learn everyday English while having fun finding the differences.
🟡 A2 – Elementary
Ready for a bigger challenge?
These lessons expand the same pictures into speaking, grammar, pair work, and communication activities that encourage students to describe, compare, and discuss what they see.
🔵 B1 – Intermediate
At this level, students move beyond finding differences. They analyse, explain, tell stories, and develop their speaking confidence through discussion and creative tasks based on the pictures.
🔴 B2 – Upper Intermediate
The same pictures now become the starting point for debate, critical thinking, creative writing, and problem-solving. Students explore ideas, justify opinions, and communicate naturally in English.
